Purchase Artwork

Delvin Goode was born in Riverside, California.  His father was a United States Air Force member which provided Goode valuable experiences in both America and Europe as a child.  His father and siblings were talented artists, and his parents often held art competitions in their home.  This familial nurturing provided Goode with a comical and unique sense of artistic independence manifesting itself across multiple mediums throughout his life.

During his undergrad studies at Florida State University, Goode explored painting and drawing but chose graphic design as his major.  Once his core requirements were met, Goode enrolled in a ceramic course that dramatically shifted his passion in arts. The concept of function, and the idea of patrons using versus viewing his art has been a major motivation in his work ever since.

In 2002, Goode joined the United States Army. As a Soldier he shifted his artistic expression towards graphic design, woodworking, and painting murals while deployed in the Middle East. Throughout his service he gained a deep understanding of how graphics and branding combine to create intense connections in people.  In 2015, Goode started a master’s degree program at Fort Hays State University and began a focused exploration of ceramics.  Feeling that his ceramic skills had finally matched his other talents, Goode started using painting and graphic design techniques to glaze graphics on ceramic pieces.  He also began incorporating laser engravers and similar equipment to create unique packaging/accessories providing multiple artistic opportunities for him in one piece allowing him to enhance the connection between art and the collector.

In 2023, Goode retired from the military and began his career at Speedball Art Company as the Ceramics Product Marketing Manager. Through this position he continues to make an impact on the world of art both ceramically and through several other mediums for artists across the globe.

I aspire to masterfully unite ceramic techniques with proven principles of design distributed across all mediums within my work, culminating in newfound art appreciation.  I am driven to excellence by the connections people make with functional products from the receipt of the item, to unpackaging, to deepened affections as that object is imprinted with memories throughout its use.  Dings, scratches, and stains are all welcome as they are signs of continued use thus elevating the art to its fullest potential.

Ceramic works can be some of the most functionally intimate objects an artist can create, and clay is the perfect medium to shape that relationship in infinite ways.  The feel of a ceramic piece in your hand and the comfort gained from its use speaks to the strong subliminal bonds that develop when form and function are perfected.  The shape of the ware along with the purposeful use of glazes enhance the experiences both tacitly and visually, and my goal is to maximize both with each piece.  I have a deep appreciation for graphic design and its ability to convey a message and connect many genres of people.  The strategic use of graphics implemented throughout each series express comical yet universally relatable ideas.   Quality craft, cleverly conceived graphics, and universal humor are essential to my art, and I hope to bring smiles to the faces of anyone who sees or uses my work.
