Red Lodge Clay – Center Short-Term Resident (AIA) 2016

As an 18 year old I migrated up north to Bozeman, Montana to be a student of my two lifelong passions: clay and outdoor recreation. In pursuit of these passions, I met my wife, Theresa Welty, and some of my closest friends. Theresa and I live and teach in San Antonio, Texas, and we have two beautiful children, Cole and Jody. I received a MFA in ceramics from the University of Montana, and currently serve as Assistant Professor of Art at Northwest Vista College, San Antonio, Texas.

My work explores the socio-political affects of climate change, witnessed through our use or rather misuse of natural resources, such as water. My sculptures embrace irony, satire, and humor to balance out objects often appearing playful and docile in form and color.
