Red Lodge Clay – Center Short-Term Resident (ASPN) 2016
Learning about the Advanced Student Project at the Red Lodge Clay Center in December 2015, I have been excited for the potential opportunity to join and learn from the community as well others nominated for this program. My own development as an artist has been intimately linked with engaging with other students while also cultivating a strong independent work ethic and identity. I create utilitarian pottery that captures a moment in time containing a personal narrative through gesture, surface, line quality and form. Function, comfort, and balance are important in my life and I intend to create pots that portray these elements. The Advanced Student Project would feed my passion in the process of making and exploring and further improve my voice through functional pottery.
