Curatorial Statement
Tools from our everyday: a book, a needle, a ladder, a rake. Repetitiously used. Disappear. These tools however are a significant part of our traditions of function within domestic and cultural customs.
“Interpretation of the Object” is an exploration of the tool, a reinvention of an unfamiliar connection to utilitarian. Each ‘object interpreter’ visually reinvents simple associations to our common surroundings with new perceptions.
The works featured in this exhibition are objects that have been abstracted by repetition, rhythm, surface, scale, and material. Their functions are conceptualized and changed to create a new definition of the object.
