Curatorial Statement

For many, salt and soda firing has been a bit of magic. By introducing sodium into the kiln at high temperatures, artists have been able to decorate the surfaces of their work and permanently record the path of the flame as it travels through the kiln. Sodium Flux will highlight the range of effects and surface artists can achieve through salt or soda firing.
