In the Fall of 2008 Jason Hess, Professor of Ceramics at the School of Art at Northern Arizona University, visited Red Lodge to teach a kiln building workshop. Eight students from the surrounding areas assisted in the construction of the 200 cubic foot train style wood kiln. The week long class was a great success and the participants came back a month later for the kilns inaugural firing.
